The limit for what though?!? I figured IвЂ™m done farming in a few fields. Apparently you can have too many potatoes or something because I вЂњreached the limitвЂќ and that was that apparently. I destroyed the bakery and made it again facing a different direction and they were able to find the door this time and live. Another time, the orientation of a building stopped people from being able to enter it and they were stuck in a вЂњmust get in this building through a wall and finish my jobвЂќ mentality and wouldnвЂ™t go home to get warm and so they died of hypothermia. By simply not connecting the road all around the house, that problem didnвЂ™t occur. A few examples: I finished building a stone road around a home and then my villagers who lived in said home couldnвЂ™t find the door which means they wonвЂ™t eat or get warm in the winter and die.

In the game, there is some weird stuff that will occur randomly and isВ frustrating because things will look fine, but not work properly.

Closing crashed the game proper for a while and I had to log out of Windows just to get my desktop back. I had to wait for the game to do its autosave and then I could close it because if I tried to save it manually, the game crashed and I lost my progress. Recently I couldnвЂ™t actively save my game. There are still bugs that IвЂ™ve dealt with. Clear days really help this game shine because the weather gets so bad in Forest Village that itвЂ™s hard to see anything and thatвЂ™s very annoying. IвЂ™m fairly sure others could have made more progress in the same amount of time, but IвЂ™m still figuring out the balance and how the game mechanics work. Right now my village is about 52 years old (which I think is pretty good). The times IвЂ™ve gotten the farthest are the times I took my time and was being very methodical about my choices. Slow and steady really does win the race here (although I always play at max speed). Build up to a certain size and then be able to maintain life at the current level and then expand from there. ItвЂ™s like a puzzle youвЂ™ve got to solve one step at a time lest you are forced to start over again. Come on man! I tried to come back from this one, but it was too little too late and we all froze to death.ДЇorest Village, as a roguelike, has its challenges. Freaking villagers just canвЂ™t burn wood, it has to be chopped up into firewood first.

All the choices seemed like the right choices at the time thoughвЂ¦ and thatвЂ™s the worst part. I should have started to farm quicker or a craft a specific item. My friend was put off by the comment, but IвЂ™ve had a few villages now that were done in by a single mistake. In addition to Forest Village being a city builder and resource management sim, I would also like to put it in the roguelike genre as well. One mistake can literally spell your undoing. I struggled with it for a while not willing to give up on what was a great looking village and in the end I had to give into the obvious: I had lost that village too.

One of those attempts lasted for quite a while until I made a mismanagement in how I allocated my resources and lost about ten plus people in a winter. I think I had five or six villages that all fell apart and crashed before I even got one that was able to survive. The crazy part is that the more I got used to it and was able to expand my village it got even more complicated and difficult as the variables increased. The first thing that stands out the most about Forest Village is the difficulty. Did I bring that on myself? Well, at least a three-year-old can kill him. It wasnвЂ™t until I got farm animals that they caused any trouble.

IвЂ™ll admit that I was afraid to leave the tutorial because I thought the bears would be more of a threat. Did it stand up to my вЂњis it fun to playвЂќ tests? Was it all just a shallow place to build or aВ survive fest and get boring soon after? Let me break it down for you. There is a difference between clones and being in the same genre and I donвЂ™t really want to get into that argument. ItвЂ™s in a similar genre and setting andВ IвЂ™m going to review it on its own merits. Life is Feudel:В Forest VillageВ does look similar and I got a chance to run around and make a village myself.В I canвЂ™t say whether or not itвЂ™s a copy of Banished as much as WoW is ripping off Warhammer. IвЂ™ve had it on my wish list for a while, but I havenвЂ™t got around to pushing the button. Is this accurate? Does that make the game any less of a thing? IвЂ™ll put this on the table for you readers: I havenвЂ™t played Banished. I canвЂ™t believe this is legal.вЂќ game that is currently getting mixed reviews on Steam. So here we have a вЂњвЂ¦ blatant rip off of Banished.
